New this week

After several delays from production and shipping, the "Puttin' on the Ritz" collection has finally arrived.  Soft pinks (plaid, polka dots, and print) and luscious blues in various designs are just begging to be made into quilts, wall hangings, or table runners.  For those who prefer softer colors, as opposed to the bright, in-your-eye colors, this collection is ideal.  Lots more collections are ordered for delivery within the next few months.

The book Rotary Cutting Revolutions has also arrived.  You may remember that the pattern Laura Biano demonstrated is in this book. Several other interesting patterns are included in this book, and most of them are pretty simple.  Buying patterns individually gets to be pretty expensive, so a book that includes several gives you more "bang for your buck".

For now, the Fairy Tale Friends collection, the Funky Monkey collection, and the Puttin' on the Ritz collections are showcased on individual tables in the center of the shop.  Each of them is unique. Hope you will come by to check them out when you get spare time.

Look forward to seeing you soon,

OUR FIRST ANNIVERSARY
(FIRST MONTH, THAT IS!)

October, 2011, has been a wonderful month for Sew & Sew Quilt Shop.  My month-long “maiden voyage” into the retail world has definitely been memorable.  My thanks to all the wonderful ladies who have walked through the front door, sat around the “kitchen table”, and shared stories with us.
Until now, I have only purchased Moda fabrics for inventory; however, I am in discussions with other vendors to consider their brands of fabrics to help widen your shopping choices.  I am well pleased with the Moda products and the services offered by them; however, I think it would be wise to have alternate suppliers to give you a better range of fabrics.
We have begun receiving charm packs and layer cakes, and jelly rolls are soon to follow.  The colors are so vibrant!  New collections are on order and will be shipped to us as soon as they are delivered to the factory.

CLASSES
We have several classes scheduled for November and December.  Among these are several classes on free-motion quilting, a rag quilted bag (purse or carry-all), double-slice layer cakes, and free classes on Christmas embellished sweatshirts and no-sew Christmas ornaments.  Other classes are being discussed but are not yet set at a firm date.  Please call me at 281.592.2021 to register for one or more of these classes.

GIFT CERTIFICATES
As the holidays rapidly approach, you might want to start dropping hints about gift certificates from Sew & Sew.  They also make wonderful birthday (or any occasion) gifts.

QUILT SHOW
I hope all of you will be able to attend the International Quilt Show at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston this week.  It has to be seen to be believed!

$5 SOCIAL SEWING DAYS
Each of you is invited to come into the shop, bring your sewing machine, and work on your unfinished projects on any day in which a class is not being held.  There is usually somebody in the shop if you need help with your UFO.

Drop by the shop whenever you get a few spare minutes.   Look forward to seeing you!
